Installing OpenLinux Getting Started Guide 45 In this screen, select the device name for the hard disk you want to use to install OpenLinux. The Device Name field describes the hard disks on your system using Linux device notation, as described in this table: CAUTION: Remember that when you use the Entire Hard Disk option, the entire hard disk will be erased during the formatting process, prior to the installation of OpenLinux. You cannot choose Next and proceed to the next screen until you have a Linux partition and a swap partition for OpenLinux. Follow these steps to use the Entire Hard Disk option to create the needed partitions: 1. Click on the device name for the hard disk on which OpenLinux should be installed. 2. Choose the button labeled “Prepare selected disk for Linux.” The selected hard disk is partitioned. A Linux native partition and a Linux swap partition are created. 3. Choose Next to continue. Proceed to the next section, “Defining your OpenLinux Filesystem” on page 46.
